[16--]
Etching and drypoint on paper.
90 x 117 mm
RvR 203
Provenance:
Sir Edward Astley (1729-1802), Norfolk; George W. Vanderbilt (1862-1914); from whom purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan in 1905.
Notes:

Watermark: None.
Etching by unknown pupil of Rembrandt.
The print reproduces the painting signed: Rembrandt f 1634 in the Thyssen collection, Lugano (Bredius 370), in reverse.
Münz attributed the etching to Ferdinand Bol. It is, however, signed at the bottom right: I. de Jouderville (?); this is clearly visible in the Amsterdam impression, which is dated on the back in ink: 1648. (White and Boon)
