Roger S. Wieck
Join Roger S. Wieck, Melvin R. Seiden Curator and Department Head of Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts, for a journey through one of the Morgan's most celebrated manuscripts. The Prayer Book of Queen Claude de France was commissioned by the first wife of King François I shortly before her coronation in 1517. Although tiny—it is the size of a credit card—the manuscript contains 132 miniatures, embellishing every page. Intended for private devotion, it includes an encoded image that reflects upon the queen’s particular anxiety as she prepared to receive her crown.
