Did you ever wonder about the meaning of the word “Kafkaesque”? Join Morgan docents as they take a close look at the life and works of Franz Kafka, the rare author whose name has become an adjective! We will look at his manuscripts, including his most famous novella, The Metamorphosis, as well as letters and diaries, and even drawings, on loan from the Bodleian library for the first time in North America. We will trace the surprising story of the survival and publication of his work as well as his emergence as an immensely influential figure in all the arts right up to today.
