What can 19th-century landscape drawings tell us about the environment past, present, and future? This Earth Day, Annette and Oscar de la Renta Assistant Curator of Drawings and Prints Sarah W. Mallory will speak about the installation Entering the Oil Sketch and explore how artists have shaped the ways in which we see and understand environmental phenomena such as natural disasters, biodiversity, and pollution. The works featured in the gallery talk were gifted jointly to the Morgan and Metropolitan Museum of Art by Trustee Eugene V. Thaw.
