Join artist Lisa Yuskavage and Claire Gilman, Acquavella Curator and Department Head of Modern and Contemporary Drawings, for a wide-ranging and thought-provoking conversation about Yuskavage’s drawings, inspirations, and artistic evolution. Through an exploration of works in Lisa Yuskavage: Drawings, the artist and the curator will discuss drawing practice and exhibition themes central to Yuskavage’s work throughout her career, uncovering unexpected connections along the way.

Lisa Yuskavage is one of the most original and influential artists of the past three decades. She creates works that affirm the integrity of her media (painting, drawing and printmaking) while challenging conventional art historical precedents. At once confrontational and meditative, her works blur the boundaries between high and low art, exploring traditional genres—the nude, portraiture, landscape and still life—with a contemporary eye to issues of female transgression and empowerment rooted in popular culture.

This program takes place in Gilbert Court on the First Floor. Doors will open 30 minutes before the program begins, and seating is on a first come, first served basis. Lisa Yuskavage: Drawings will be open to attendees prior to the program.
