Bound album containing 8 newspaper clippings, mounted on leaves of blue paper, of articles by and about Sir Walter Scott. Included is an article reporting the case of James Niven, tried on Dec. 21, 1795, with Mr. James Fergusson representing the defendent and Walter Scott appearing as counsel for the prisoner, followed by 3 pages of manuscript commentary, probably written by James Maidment, on Fergusson's life and career. The other articles include Scott's biographical essay on Henry William Weber's literary production; commentary by James Maidment on the works of Scott; and a report of "The Waverley Ball," apparently held in Edinburgh in 1844, with names of participants and descriptions of costumes. Album also contains 6 additional items pertaining to Scott and his legal career.
