Notes: 

Woodblock designed by Giorgio Liberale and cut by Wolfgang Meyerpeck for Mattioli's 1562 edition of Dioscorides, printed in Prague in 1562 and in Venice in 1565.
Reverse of block: "ASARVM" (cut into the wood) and signs of once having had a paper label.
Common names: hazelwort, asarabacca, European wild ginger, European snakeroot, wild nard (name used by Dioscorides).
Asarum is found on leaf VIII recto of the 1562 Prague edition and p. 36 of the 1565 Venetian edition.
