White collection of Italian Renaissance documents, fifteenth to seventeenth centuries.
The White Collection of Italian Renaissance documents consists of approximately 420 documents and letters. The collection, which was presented to the Library by Mrs. Harold T. White in 1969, spans the 15th to the 17th centuries, and includes letters of Francesco Filelfo, the Barzi family, the Borghese family, and others. Approximately fifty letters are addressed to addressed to Ludovico Maria Sforza (commonly called Ludovico il Moro, 1452-1508). There are also letters from members of Gonzaga and d'Este families and to them, from Cosimo I de'Medici and to the Dukes of Milan; there is also a group of letters from Cardinals.
