Commenting on the "clips" and observing, "all in all -- even though they don't like me -- the reviewers seem to be very diligent and earnest people, anxious to help a gloomy young writer onto the right path, and to safe-guard the investments of their readers"; noting that he was supposed to go see Mrs. Sutherland tonight but "didn't call her" because he has no money and doesn't feel like going into Augusta; adding that [Bennett] Cerf said there is supposed to be "a rave review in the Sat. Review."
