This drawing belongs to a group of three sheets (Acc. No. 1990.28:2 and Acc. No. 1990.28:3) which were probably entries for the competition to design the theater at Moulins that was completed in 1853, and is attributed to Durand.
Inscription:
Inscribed variously in pen and black ink, at upper left, "VILLE DE MOULINS. / SALLE DE SPECTACLE"; at upper right, "ELEVATION / No 10"; inscribed on building, "DESCENTE A COUVERT"; stamped in blue ink at lower right, "Vu au Conseil / des Batiments Civils", and inscribed in pen and brown ink below this, "le 2 juin 1840"; inscribed at lower right, "La folie nous suit dans tous les temps de la vie".
