Inscribed on the verso, at lower left edge (upside down), by the artist, in brown ink, "Hacht den 6. Juny 1675"; at lower center, in another hand, in graphite, "£2.2.0"; and at lower right, also in graphite, "C. Huygens".
Watermark: Arms of Amsterdam over small cross and letters "GB" (Churcill, no. 9; Holland, 1665), crown, rampant lions, shield, stack of three "X"s.
