Shop Manager

(Full-time)

The Morgan Library & Museum invites applications for a full-time Shop Manager. This position holds a pivotal role in providing exceptional customer service, employing selling techniques to drive sales and ensure the smooth, daily operation of The Morgan Shop sales floor. Among other duties, the Shop Manager will hire, train and supervise Sales associates, maintain accurate cash handling and departmental procedures, and assist in the processing and fulfillment of online and in-store shipping orders. Reporting to the Director of Merchandising, the Shop Manager will also assist in the development of merchandise plans and execution of shop displays.

Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for proper cash handling and shop opening and closing procedures
  • Hires, trains, supervises and schedules a team of qualified Sales Associates
  • Ensures daily stocking and cleanliness of sales floor working closely with the stockroom
  • Responsible for processing the retail and wholesale mail order operations and preparing shipping information for Inventory and Shipping Specialist Assists in the development and review of departmental operational procedures
  • Maintains The Morgan Shop sales metrics and communicates sales goals, concepts and strategies to sales floor team
  • Assists Director of Merchandising and Merchandising Manager in the concept development, display implementation and sales analysis of shop merchandising strategies Assists in preparation and execution of annual physical inventory procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by department head
Qualifications: 
  • College degree preferred, High School/GED minimum
  • At least five years prior experience in supervisory retail management and merchandising display
  • Strong experience in managing daily operations of a retail store including cash handling control
  • Proficiency in POS software, ecommerce platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Detail oriented with superior organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Good merchandising skills with a flair for conceiving and implementing creative product displays
  • Museum and/or art related experience desirable
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time with frequent standing, bending and lifting up to 30lbs. Some light cleaning is required. Comfortable working in stockroom environment.
  • Core work week schedule is Tuesday through Saturday. Some evenings and alternate days may be required based on operational needs.
Compensation: 

$55,000–$58,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
