Overview:
The Morgan Library & Museum is accepting applications for the position of Museum Educator to lead a variety of programs across the Education and Public Programs Department. Teaching opportunities primarily focus on K–12 school programs onsite at the Morgan and offsite at schools across the five boroughs of New York City, but also include occasional family programs and large-scale multigenerational events, teen programs, college programs, and adult programs. Programs are inquiry and discussion-based and align to best practices in informal learning and engagement. Tours and workshops focus on the Morgan’s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, with an emphasis on illuminated and literary manuscripts, drawings, local and world history, and architecture.
The number of tours will vary based upon school requests. During busy periods, educators may lead two to three classes per week during the school year onsite at the Morgan, and will also have the opportunity to lead offsite programs at schools across all five boroughs as well as occasional weekend and evening events for a range of audiences. Educators are expected to provide weekday availability and lead a minimum of twenty-four programs for school, teen, family, and college audiences per year.
Initial training and onboarding for this position will include both onsite and virtual sessions. Participation in additional trainings throughout the year on new exhibitions and teaching strategies will be expected with advance notice. All trainings will be paid.
