Responsibilities:
The Morgan Library & Museum invites applications for the position of Department Administrator in the Modern and Contemporary Drawings department. Reporting to the Acquavella Curator and Department Head, the Department Administrator provides support for all department activities, including acquisitions, collection management, loans, exhibitions, and donor cultivation. This position also works in conjunction with the Drawings and Prints Department to schedule and oversee researchers who visit the Drawing Study Center. The Administrator will work two days per week onsite.
Qualifications:
- BA in art history or related field (MA preferred)
- 1–2 years’ experience working in a museum or gallery in a similar position
- Knowledge of modern and contemporary art
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, familiarity with database programs including TMS; knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop preferred) Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy
- Dependability and reliability
- Ability to work for extended periods at a computer workstation, lift moderately heavy boxes, move items to and from shelves, climb step ladder, wheel carts with collections items through the facility, and tolerance for moderate levels of dust and odor generated during normal collections management activities and movement of objects
