A selection of prints by Gavarni from Masques et visages, a series of prints comprised of contributions by various artists featured in the journal Paris, published under the direction of the Comte de Villedeuil from Oct. 20, 1852 to Dec. 8, 1853. Cf. Armelhaut & Bocher, p. 331.
Album assembled by Edmond and Jules de Goncourt, containing their etched bookplate by Gavarni, an engraved portrait by Adrien Nargeot of Gavarni after a self portrait by the artist, and 16 lithographs from the various suites of prints contributed by Gavarni to the Paris journal series Masques et visages; including plates 1 through 10 of the suite entitled "Les partageuses" (including 2 additional trial proofs of plates 4 and 10, closely trimmed), 2 "bons à tirer" of plates 4 and 6 from "Les invalides du sentiment", and a trial proof of plate 14 from "Histoire de politiquer".
