Summary: 

Emblazoned arms of British rulers and nobles, in chronological order, from Brute the son of Silvius Posthumus through James I. Each entry features a shield painted with arms, a short account of the bearer's entry into England, notable achievements, famous ancestors or descendants, and investiture into peerage (secretary hand); and a blazon (italic hand). Monarchs' arms represented larger than others', centered on page, without descriptions. Also contains a partial (Arundel-Lancaster) index of 10 pages preceding the text, titled "Alphabeticall Catalogue of the English-created-Earles since the Norman Conquest" (pp.i-x); this later indexer has annotated several shields throughout the volume with the names of their Earldoms.
