Maintenance Engineer

(Full-time)
Responsibilities: 

The Morgan Library & Museum has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Engineer who will operate, maintain and perform repairs to building systems and infrastructure on the Morgan Campus. These systems include but are not limited to HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) BMS controls, lighting systems, and other building infrastructural systems. This is a 35 hour per week position reporting to the Chief Engineer.

 

Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Trade School with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience working in building operations, maintenance & repair
  • Should possess a valid New York Certificate of Fitness for:
    • Q-01Certificate of Qualification for Refrigerating System Operating Engineer
    • A-35 Operate air compressors
    • S-12 Certificate of Fitness for Citywide Sprinkler Systems
    • S-13 Certificate of Fitness for Citywide Standpipe Systems
    • P-98 Certificate of Fitness for Fuel-Oil Piping and Storage Systems
    • F-89 Certificate of Fitness for Fire and Life Safety Director (within one year of employment)
    • S-95 Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems
    • F-01 Certificate of Fitness for Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment
  • Working knowledge of Building Management Control systems
  • Experience in operating centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, pumps, fans & motors
  • Working knowledge of other building mechanical, electrical & plumbing systems
  • Experience in the maintenance and operations of steam systems supplied by Con Edison
  • Working knowledge in the use of various lifts, hand tools, and other equipment
  • Ability to read & interpret blueprints
  • Ability to work separately, and complete scheduled maintenance & unplanned repairs
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including CMMS, Word, and Excel preferred
  • Good verbal & written communication skills
  • Must be physically capable of lifting 50 lbs. or more, climbing on stairs and ladders, and working in tight spaces
  • Must have adequate hearing to facilitate working in machine equipment rooms
Compensation: 

$38 - $41 per hour, commensurate with experience; excellent benefits.
