Part of a collection of 10 autograph letters signed and 3 typed letters signed from Maugham to Thomas Johnson. The collection also includes one typed copy of a letter from K.G. Payne to Maugham. Items in the collection are described in individual records (MA 7648.1-14).
Thanking Johnson for the wallpaper designs but saying he must see the colors in person; discussing the color of a sofa and remarking that "a self coloured red something in the nature of crushed strawberry or old rose would be more suitable" than "green or old gold"; saying he hopes Johnson has not "committed [him] to any of the materials for curtains except those for the drawing-room."
