Telling him she is upset about Rousseau's return to France, saying that under the circumstances she is pleased Voltaire is abroad and that she would rather see him free and content in Holland than living illicitly in France, but fearing that Voltaire is no longer safe in Holland and defering to his judgment on the best course of action to follow. Reporting on Voltaire's health, and discussing Voltaire's enmity with Jean-Baptiste Rousseau. Hoping that the bailiff will shade some light on the recent intrigues against them.
