Reference Collection

The mission of the Reference Collection is to support the study and interpretation of the Morgan’s diverse collections. A non-circulating reference library, the collection is available to the research community by appointment in the Sherman Fairchild Reading Room.

Comprised of approximately 148,000 volumes, including monographs, periodicals, and auction and sale catalogs, the Reference Collection contains many items not readily available elsewhere. A world-renowned resource for the study of medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, it holds significant resources for the study of master drawing and the art and history of the printed book. Further holdings support the Morgan’s collections of literary and autograph manuscripts, autograph and printed musical scores, ancient Western Asian cylinder seals, art objects, and photography.

CORSAIR, the Morgan's online collection catalog, is available here.
