Celebrate the holiday season with the Morgan’s annual display of the original manuscript of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol and enjoy artmaking and activities for all ages themed to our current exhibitions.

Welcome to the Morgan! Check in at the welcome table to pick up a schedule and enter a raffle.

Christmas Present!
The Grand Falloons company leads visitors in a lively celebration of A Christmas Carol with strolling characters Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and the Ghost of Christmas Present, as Victorian-era performers delight with magic and music.

“Come in and know me better, man!”
Take a family picture as a figure from A Christmas Carol using the head-in-the-hole board mimicking Punch magazine contributor John Leech’s famous illustrations.

Belle Greene’s Bookplates
The Morgan’s first director, Belle da Costa Greene, loved to read and used a personalized bookplate. Create your own custom bookplate for your favorite book.

Surreal Style
Inspired by The Metamorphosis author Franz Kafka, transform yourself by creating your own unique headgear out of mixed media materials, including feathers, felt, and ribbons.

Quiet Space
Take a quiet break in one of the Morgan’s historic rooms with sensory friendly supports such as fidgets, noise canceling headphones, and books.

Film Screening: The Snowman (1982, 26 minutes, rated G)
In this animated version of the classic picture book, a young boy makes friends with a snowman and travels to the North Pole. Screenings on the half hour.

A Christmas Carol Off the Shelves: Reading in the Library
Be dazzled by ghosts and spirits in Pierpont Morgan's historic library as the Grand Falloons company brings Dickens and his masterpiece to life right off the library shelves with a lively and very merry rendition of A Christmas Carol.

A Christmas Carol Off the Shelves will be ticketed for family viewing. Tickets are free and are available only at the Family Fair Welcome Desk onsite starting at 12:00pm on Saturday December 14th. Strollers are restricted from the performance space and can be parked on the Lower Level. The East Room of the Historic Library will be otherwise closed between 2:00-4:00PM.

3:45 PM

Closing Carols and in the Court
The Grand Falloons close the afternoon with a rendition of classic holiday songs.

Continue your museum visit by exploring our current exhibitions as well as the original manuscript of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol  in the West Room of J. Pierpont Morgan’s library.

All activities are free with museum admission. The Morgan is free to children twelve and under.
