The text by Roger de Rabutin, comte de Bussy, most of which is erased, consists of satirical verses and prayers reflecting on the morals of his contemporaries; in 1674 he and Mme. de Scudery discussed the text of this manuscript in their correspondence; Nicolas Boileau Despréux (1636-1711) mentions it in his Satires VIII, 40, first published in 1674.
Decoration: eight full-page miniatures, three crowned monograms.
Artist: ascribed to Jean Petitot, but in the Firmin-Didot sale catalogue (Paris, 1879, no. 45) the artist Du Guerrier is suggested.
