Purchased from Maggs, September 4, 1956.
Notes:

Ms. single leaf (cutting), illuminated in Italy, probably Venice, ca. 1550.
Decoration: 1 miniature depicting the Assumption of the Virgin.
The lower section of the miniature's composition was derived from Dürer's 1510 woodcut of the Assumption of the Virgin [see Dürer in America, p. 183, no. 153, illus.]; one figure was derived from a painting of the Assumption by Titian in the Frari, Venice [commissioned in 1516].
Glued on convex worm-eaten board, set into deep mat. Traces of framing marks along margins, many areas with paint chipped off to expose bare vellum. No indications of ruling for staves on verso.
