18th-century English gilt-tooled red morocco over paper boards (27.5 x 17.5 cm.), sewn on 6 supports. Marbled paper pastedowns and fly leaves with plain paper fly leaves; decorative endbands; gilt edges.
Inscriptions/Markings: 

Hand decoration: Rubricated, blue initials, green initial on gold ground (leaf [16]/1r). Annotations: Contemporary alpha-numeric quire signatures and foliation, mostly trimmed. A few contemporary Italian marginal notes throughout and transcription of the sonnet "Cura che di timor ti nutri et cresci" by Giovanni dalla Casa from Benedetto Varchi's lecture (leaf [19]/7v). Modern pencil price codes (for facsimilies and binding?, likely Lindsay) (rear fly leaf).
