Hand decoration: Rubricated, blue initials with very fine red capital strokes. Painted armorial, 15th-16th century (leaf [1]/1r). Annotations: Moderate manuscript marginal notations in a contemporary Italian hand, mainly recording textual citations.

Unidentified Italian armorial: blue bend with a red star above and below on a yellow/gold field, later inscription (mis)identifying as Guicciardini (leaf [1]/1r); Thomas Herbert (1656-1733), Earl of Pembroke, binding and shelf mark: Ka.3 (front fly leaf verso); his sale, Sotheby's, 25 June 1914, lot 142, to Quaritch (with collation note on rear fly by Pruitt dated 2/7/14); J.P.
