Figures in a Wooded Landscape Notecard

This blue ink landscape drawing, Figures in a Wooded Landscape with a City in the Distance by Isaak Major (1576-1642), belongs to a stylistically coherent group of meticulously drawn fantastical landscapes. Nestled among winding trees is a wooden cottage overlooking a mountainous landscape with a city by the water in the distance.

This notecard was designed to accompany the exhibition Far and Away: Drawings from the Clement C. Moore Collection on view at the Morgan Library & Museum June 28, 2024 through September 22, 2024.
