Free with museum admission. The Morgan is free to children twelve and under.

Nora Thompson Dean: Lenape Teacher and Herbalist

To celebrate the exhibition, Nora Thompson Dean: Lenape Teacher and Herbalist, families are invited to take a special tour of the Morgan Garden and see plants important to the Lenape, including corn, squash, beans, and amaranth. Participants will learn about the life cycle of plants, how seeds are preserved, and participate in making a seed mosaic. This program will be led by Joe Baker, co-founder and executive director of The Lenape Center, and K Greene, Seed Growing Program Manager for The Hudson Valley Farm Hub.

The Lenape Center is a New York-based organization with the mission of continuing Lenapehoking, the original Lenape homeland in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, through community, culture, and the arts. The Hudson Valley Farm Hub is a non-profit center for regenerative agriculture located in Hurley, NY. They provide professional farmer training, host and support agricultural research, and serve as an educational resource for advances in food and farming.

The Morgan’s family programs offer a unique and engaging museum experience to learn about the process of creative expression. Our innovative art experiences are designed for adults and children to enjoy together.

Sunday, September 10 is National Grandparents Day; multigenerational attendance is encouraged.

Appropriate for all ages.
