New Parnassus
Four contemporary composers take inspiration from the sketches of Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 11, Op. 95, in F minor (1810) and compose one movement each, resulting in a completely new four-movement quartet. New Parnassus will perform the new work along with the original String Quartet No. 11, creating a musical dialogue between Beethoven and contemporary composers. Composers include Raven Chacon, Laura Kaminsky, Ben Kutner, and Shara Nova. The autograph manuscript of Beethoven’s sketches is in the Morgan’s music collection.
The event will take place in the Morgan's Gilder Lehrman Hall. By entering the museum, you agree to our updated Visitor Guidelines and Policies. Masks are encouraged, but not required for attending all public programs.
