The Morgan Library & Museum, a museum and independent research library in midtown Manhattan, welcomes applications for Human Resources Specialist. This position is part of an HR team working in support of a comprehensive new strategic plan that will guide the Morgan’s work for the next five years.
This role has lead responsibility for coordinating the Morgan’s Fellowship, Internship and Volunteer programs. This involves working with managers to develop programs; identifying and creating hiring resources with the goal of attracting a diverse applicant pool; managing applicants and coordinating the selection process. The Specialist also plans and implements special events and tours and act as the point of contact/support for program participants. As part of the Morgan’s Human Resources team, the Specialist will also assist with some hiring activity, fulfill other administrative duties and be a part of the team transitioning the Morgan to a new Human Resources Information System.
- Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of relevant professional-level experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in a museum, arts/culture organization and/or non-profit agency a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and a passion for getting to know people
- Ability to exercise judgment in building relationships across all organizational levels and functions
- Strong written communication skills; excellent attention to detail
- Familiarity with, and interest in, organizational DEAI (Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion) programming
- Ability to work effectively advancing many projects simultaneously while respecting the confidential and sensitive nature inherent in human resources work
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Orientation toward (a) customer service and (b) collaborative work
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of, and skill in researching, listservs, websites and platforms that may be useful for job postings
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
- Use computer keyboard for extended periods of time
Competitive salary at $65,000 to $74,000 commensurate with experience; Excellent Benefits
