Library's copy contains printed and manuscript alterations on at least 47 pages. Most of them are written directly onto the score in ink, or occasionally in blue crayon, but some are on manuscript slips pasted over the original passages and four are on printed paste-over slips (presumably supplied by the publisher).
Some of the changes are additions to or alterations of dynamic, expression, or tempo markings; but many others are radical changes of sung text and musical notation (both orchestral and vocal). The latter include the addition of three long passages (of 14, 40 and 18 bars) for harp (an instrument that is not included in the original orchestration), a passage of 11 additional bars for tuba and a 12-bar passage for tenor trombone. All the changes give the appearance of having been made soon after the date of publication of the score.
