Kinder-Sonate, G dur -- Sonate, D dur -- Sonate, C dur.
Each sonata has its own t.p.
Engraved.
Titelauflage of the first edition.
Library's variant seems to fall somewhere between Hofmann's "erste Bandausgabe" and "Eine TA dieser Ausgabe" (p. 256-257). It lacks the "Inhalt der Clavier-Sonaten für die Jugend" leaves; also, the copyright note at the bottom of the first pages of music begins "Entered according to act of congress," not "Entered according to the act of congress."
Also, there is no pagintation 2-51, but there is pagination 3-47 (top center) and 65-109 (lower left or right corner). And at the top of p. 3 there is the note beginning "Album für die Jugend / III. Abtheilung...." Hamburg is still present in the imprint; and there is no mention of the version for 4 hands.
Also, the title page differs in many small points form that reproduced in Hofmann, p. 256: there is now no hyphen between Clavier and Sonaten, the line between the op. no. and price is shorter, and a close examination reveals many subtle differences in the typography.
The lithography of the ornamental border on the t.p., and probably the text, is by Friedr. Krätzschmer, Leipzig. See K. Hoffmann, Die Erstdrucke der Werke von Robert Schumann, p. 256.
