Zip coon.

American minstrel song popularized by the white singer and blackface performer George Dixon. The song flourished as part of the standard repertoire for minstrel performers during the 1830s and is credited with originating the stock blackface character of "Zip Coon", a racist caricature aimed at denigrating the manners of free Blacks. Ohio songwriter Daniel Decatur Emmett is sometimes erroneously credited as the song's author. Cf. Cockrell, D. Demons of disorder : early blackface minstrels and their world.
