Binding:
16th- or 17th-century red morocco tooled in thin gold, imitating 16th century bindings made for Henri III and Louise de Lorraine; their arms joined on upper cover (crowned shields of France and Poland accosted) surrounded by the arms of the Order of the Holy Ghost, surmounted by a crown in which is the motto: Manet ultima coelo; on the lower cover the arms of France, with the combined initials of Henri and Louise beneath a fleur-de-lis in the corners.
