First owner a woman presumably named Margaret of the family des Pres, Seigneurs of Colonster, their arms (fol. 75): lozengy azure and argent, on a chief argent three martlets gules; Manuel John Johnson, astronomer, owned before 1859; his sale (London, 1862, no. 52) to Edwin H. Lawrence; his sale (London, 1892, no. 534) to Quaritch; William Morris; purchased in 1897 by Richard Bennett from Morris's estate; Catalogue of manuscripts and early printed books from the libraries of William Morris, Richard Bennett, Bertram, fourth Earl of Ashburnham, and other sources, no. 29; purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) with the Bennett Collection in 1902; J.P. Morgan (1867-1943).
