Ms. calligraphy album; written and illuminated in Iran, late 18th century.
Decoration: different colored papers with inlaid center rectangle of very thin, cream-colored paper, written with 6-8 lines of script on the diagonal within areas of plain paper, surrounded by gold leaf; bordered with painted gold floral motifs. On some of the papers can be seen fragments of diverse 18th-century watermarks.
Binding: 19th-century Persian (Qajar?) lacquer binding of floral motifs on brown ground [gul-o bulbul] with wavy borders, 1/4 leather back, red lacquer doublures with flower sprays; in cloth-covered box by JPW 1952.
