Ms. single leaf from a Genesis cycle; written and decorated in the middle of the 12th century, perhaps in Salzburg, Austria.
Text: Genesis 42:28-36.
Decoration: 1 large framed pen drawing with Joseph scenes in two registers, in black and red ink; Austrian Romanesque style.
This leaf was recovered from a binding, where it served as a pastedown; it is apparently all that remains of what must have been a rather lengthy Genesis cycle--Cf. Seventeenth report to the Fellows of the Pierpont Morgan Library, 1972-1974.
See: London, Sotheby's, 19 June 1990 (Korner collection), lot 1, where this manuscript is referred to.
