Studio portrait shows Wilde seated, full length, on a sofa covered with a Turkish carpet and fur rug; he wears a quilted double breasted smoking jacket, knee-breeches, and silk stocking as he leans to the left with his arm resting on the arm of the sofa, his head resting against on his hand, with a book (i.e. a copy of his collected "Poems") held in his other hand, resting upright on his thigh.
