Place of writing is from the end of the letter: "this comes from a ruminative, a-tropical weekend in the blazing Connecticut hills."
Addressed to "My dear Pepe."
Part of a collection of letters to José Rodríguez Feo, a Cuban who edited the magazine Orígenes in the 1940s and 50s. Letters in the collection are described in individual records; see MA 5659 for more information.
Acknowledging "receipt of the several issues of Origenes"; thanking him "for the pleasure of seeing A River in Spanish translation"; writing, "physically [Orígenes] is about the most impressive literary review I've seen, and that is only to say that its outward appearance matches its inner content"; discussing his book, No Arch, No Triumph, and saying that he is "rather dissatisfied with the volume as a whole"; commenting on his work on The Borzoi Book of Modern Verse and mentioning [Wallace] Stevens; asking Rodríguez Feo about his work; hoping they will meet again soon.
