A typed essay by Polish professor and philologist Przemysław Mroczkowski on the second edition of the Works of Geoffrey Chaucer, edited by F. N. Robinson (London: Oxford, 1957). The essay contains extensive suggested revisions and corrections by J. R. R. Tolkien, written in-line in red ink and pencil. Tolkien has also given extensive commentary on Robinson's edition and on Mroczkowski's criticism of it in the margins and on the versos of some pages, and including general remarks on the incomplete nature of the Canterbury Tales; these notes are also written in red ink and pencil. In a related letter (MA 7958.3), Tolkien notes that "Red ink is used for changes and corrections which I propose to you seriously."
