Notes:

Algarotti writes that it is two months since he last heard from his friend Vannucchi, and awaits further sonnets from this grand poet and philosopher. Tomorrow he will be going to Potsdam to see the King (Frederick the Great) and will present him with some of his verses, as His Majesty agreed that Vannucchi's muse was 'quasi celeste.' He writes that Voltaire and Formey share his enthusiasm for Paolo Brazzolo's translations of the Iliad and discusses the King, 'questo Germanica o Prusso-Gallica' with his moods and interest in literature. Mention is also made of his friend Scipione Maffei who had written to him about 'il linguaggio pittorico.' A postscript sends greeting from Voltaire and thanks Vannucchi for his 'dotto opusculo' on the subject of dreams and apparitions.
The integral address leaf is addressed to 'Al Celebre Signor Avvocato Anton Maria Vannucchi, Profre di Diritta Feudale nell Universita di Pisa.'
