Reporting in detail on the attack by Sir Arthur Wellesley on the French on the 17th of August at Roliça and Columbeira; providing details on the numbers of wounded and dead and the names of the officers killed in the battle; relating details of the attack by the French on Wellesley on the 21st of August in which "the french were compleatly repuls'd with great Slaughter, all accounts do agree that the Conduct of our Troops has been admirable [.] they received the french with coolness and whenever there was an opportunity to charge with Bayonets it was done, which the french never did Stand, it is Said that the loss of the french has been very great it is reported 800 prisonners and 13 or 18 Canons fell in our hands on the 24th;" adding that wounded soldiers and officers arrived that morning and he would do his best to see that they are comfortable.
