Saying that the communications the king has been receiving, about the king of Spain [Philip IV] conscripting soldiers at the border of Schomberg's lands [Languedoc, of which he was governor], have caused him to write to tell Schomberg that the king desires he go immediately to Narbonne and Leucate with an engineer to see the state of these locations. Saying Monsieur Le Camus is being sent the orders needed to complete all the repairs that Schomberg judges necessary. Telling Schomberg to take charge and have munitions supplied promptly if he feels that the garrison of Leucate needs to be fortified. Saying the king will do so based on Schomberg's opinion, and that the work to be done is not only to protect people from a surprise attack, but also to create a situation in which, if he does attack, the king of Spain will suffer losses.
