Summary:

Describing the abrupt end of his Mediterranean cruise due to a tidal wave in Palermo Harbor and thanking him for his catalogue of the Printed Book; offering several critical comments on the catalog; saying "I thought Joseph Blumenthal's essay was excellent, and I particularly welcome his enthusiasm for the printers of Lyons. Of course any anthology is open to criticism. I think that he should have included the 'Como Vitruvius', which is surely the most remarkable combination of text and notes ever to be produced, and as typography more architectural than any of the richly annotated Dantes. I also thought it rather unfair to include the Geoffrey Tory's 'Champfleury' of 1529 instead of Pacioli's 'Divina Proportione' of 1509, where the letters really were designed by Leonardo. However, these criticisms are only an indirect expression of the pleasure I have taken in studying your book;" saying he wished he saw an opportunity to come to New York but he does not.
