16th-century French gold and silver tooled olive-brown morocco over wooden boards (31 x 21 cm.), with Greek-style extended endcaps, sewn on 5 supports for Henri II, attributed to Claude de Picques (ca. 1501-1574/78; reliure du roi, 1555-74/78), Paris, ca. 1550. Plain paper pastedowns; decorative endbands; gilt and gauffered edges. 4 plaited leather clasps. Two stamped monograms of Henri II--crowned H--and adorsed Ds with an H for Henri and Diane de Poitiers.
