Binding: 
Modern gilt-tooled full black goatskin, in a pastiche of a grolieresque style, by Chambolle-Duru. Marbled paper pastedowns and fly leaves; decorative endbands; gilt edges.
Inscriptions/Markings: 

Hand decoration: Illuminated initials, red capital strokes, Roman numeral foliation with decorative bracket in bottom center margin of rectos. Minor initials have foilate flourishing in a very loose/sketchy style; incipit initial is only major initial realized. Illuminated initial "I" in red, light and dark blue on a grey ground with a scrolling vine ornament in gold (leaf [1]/1r) with two coats-of-arms: (left) quartered, gold with a black lion and red label of four points in one and four, gold with red horizontal zigzag in two and three; (right) gold with seven red saltires. Annotations: Some marginal annotations, washed and illegible.
