One of six surviving ink and watercolor drawings, illuminated by the Master of the Ghent Gradual (see also Harvard, Houghton Library, Typ Inc 9461.5, first leaves of Books III and VI and Cleveland Museum of Art, 1952.274.1-2, first leaves of Books VIII and IX). The Beyond Words (Boston) exhibition locates the anonymous artist in Bruges. Initial in red/blue with elaborate red/blue penwork decoration, 1 blue initial, with red and blue paragraph marks and red underlining; headline in alternating red and blue initials.
