Perspectives from a Conservator and a Curator

Join Frank Trujillo, Drue Heinz Book Conservator, and Roger S. Wieck, Melvin R. Seiden Curator of Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts, for a discussion of the Morgan's Black Hours. A fifteenth-century manuscript illuminated on colored parchment, this Book of Hours is one of only a handful of similar manuscripts in collections worldwide.  The presentation will delve into the story of the manufacture of the codex, scientific analysis to identify the black colorant, and, from a curatorial viewpoint, observations of some riddles the book poses.

Please note that the program will take place online. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to participate using Zoom. We ask that you download the app in advance for the best user experience.
