Provenance: 
Executed at and for St. Peter in Salzburg (shelfmark MS A.VI.55), where it remained until purchased for the Pierpont Morgan Library through the Lewis Cass Ledyard Fund in 1933.

Ms. Gospel lectionary; written and illuminated at the Benedictine monastery of St. Peter (St. Peter in Salzburg), Salzburg, Austria, between 1070 and 1090.
Decoration: 16 full-page and 3 smaller miniatures; 3 decorated incipit pages.
Artist: Custos Perhtolt; signed in the dedicatory miniature on fol. 80r, which contains the following dedicatory inscription written in square capitals: coeli clavigero donavit pectore laeto custos hunc librum perhtolt qui fecerit illum ut sit peccati precium. Per cuncta patrati hinc raptor poenas patiatur corpore sevas. ("To the bearer of the keys to heaven the Guardian Perhtolt who made this book offers it with joyful heart in order that it may be an expiration for all sins committed by him. May he who steals it suffer violent bodily pains.")
One page of text is missing after fol. 2; the recto probably contained a miniature.
