Provenance: 
Commissioned in 1461 by the priest Mkrtich' and his wife Mughal Khat'un, who are named in the colophon; sold in 1546 by Berkijan, daughter of Hambil to the priest Malak'ia (colophon on fol. 18); purchased by Malijan in 1600 (colophon on fol. 18v); purchased by the Pierpont Morgan Library from M. Stora et cie, Paris, in 1929.
Notes: 

Ms. Gospel book; written and illuminated in Van, Armenia, in 1461.
Scribe: Vardan (son of the priest Yovanes and his wife Zmrut) who has signed and dated the colophon on fol. 308v-309.
Decoration: prefatory cycle of 14 full-page miniatures; 4 Evangelist portraits and incipit pages, 10 canon tables, 4 marginal figures, zoomorphic and phylomorphic ornamental initials and marginal designs.
